Idris Elba has been a star waiting to happen for a while now. This movie will, hopefully, secure that status for him. And Best Actor goes to...?
Dallas Buyer's Club doesn't appear to have a trailer yet, so, in short: Matthew McConaughey stars as Ron Woodroof, a man diagnosed with HIV in 1986 who starts smuggling anti-viral medications not available in the US and finds himself in a war with the FDA and American pharmaceutical companies. It's directed by Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee, who previously made C.R.A.Z.Y and The Young Victoria.
It's the Coen brothers. Is there anything else you need to know?
David O. Russell is has been on a hot streak the last few years and it looks to continue with this one, where he reunites with a bunch of actors he's collaborated with (and directed to Oscars) in the past. Looks like a winner to me.
Tom Hanks' biggest competition come awards time just might be... himself. Playing another real person, this time Walt Disney, opposite Emma Thompson as the creator of Mary Poppins.
Tomorrow: the final 5
