I like your point about slapstick and Southern manners mixed for comedy. It's a one-joke premise, but Keaton gets a lot of hilarious and varied mileage out of it, particularly how the elaborate manners overlay murderous mayhem. Keaton may be the most accessible today of the great silent comics; his visual and physical wit always amaze. And the train here is adorable (supposedly a recreation of an actual train of the era).

This movie is a great family movie, BUT you have to know your children and what they can handle. Yes, there are some possibly scary/disturbing images drawn by the son, which are shown several times. I wish the movie didn't have them, or at least didn't make them so graphic, and the movie would have worked just fine without them. It does have its place in the movie and the family works through it. (This caused me to give the movie four stars instead of five, it just wasn't necessary) There is also some language that parents may be concerned about. H*.l a few times, S--t three to six times, B.S. once or twice & *$$ or A-ho once or twice. HOWEVER, I just heard that the DVD will feature a family friendly audio track that can be selected in the menu. This will reduce the above instances greatly changing a few S--ts to Shoot and possibly eliminating them alltogether. This does not address the disturbing images though, so keep that in mind.

Overall this movie will give you a great story full of emotion and laughter. This is one movie you can watch with the whole family~ young and old (provided the previously mentioned images are discussed and perhaps understood beforehand). Matt Damon gives a great performance and really shows his talent in this one. The fact that it is based on an actual family makes it quite interesting!

"Before Sunset actually improved on its predecessor, presenting...a more mature and, in many ways, more resonant picture of them." I absolutely agree! I liked "Before Sunrise" well enough, a charming an unusual picture. But I was unprepared for the "resonance" of the follow-up. Delpy was delightful in the first film but seemed to have improved tremendously as an actress in the intervening years. Hawke just radiated sensitivity and emotional need, just what you'd expect from the successful writer of a wistful, autobiographical novel. Not much happens in the film except two old friends meeting and walking and talking, but I don't think I've ever seen a movie achieve such emotional resonance with so little. Nina Simone singing "Just in Time" at the end certainly gave one much to contemplate about what would happen to these two in the future. He's with her now, but how long will he (or she) stay? Another open ending that might lead in unexpected directions?

Personal identity is something that all of us struggle with at some point in our lives. I think the fact that the film is based on sexuality, as well just opens the door more to the issues young folks are dealing with today. My friend who is also a colleague, who loves coming of age films, as much as I do, works the late shift with me at Dish. We get together one late night a week to enjoy our love of film together. I make sure to subscribe to a service that lets me get unique films, which is Blockbuster @Home. Together we unwind, relax with a glass of wine, and then have the most enjoyable discussion after each film. Pariah sounds fantastic, and will be on our list of films to enjoy together.

Despite its qualities and its terrific analysis of domination, A Dangerous Method could have gone further. In my opinion, the film tries to make us believe that the Jung/Spielrein relation and the conflicting theories broke the friendship between Freud and Jung. The screenwriter could have also added a few scenes regarding the allegations of plagiarism Freud faced. In short, A Dangerous Method is a little bit incomplete, but it's nonetheless an enjoyable film.

Spielberg may not score much points when it comes to his use of motion-capture animation here but the film still benefits from a fun and kinetic direction that brings him back to his old Indiana Jones days. Serkis is a riot the whole time as well. Great review Norma.

This is a great book. I don't read as much fiction these days, but the movie made me curious. The book is better in several ways. The movie changed lots of details while retaining the spirit of the book. The book's details are more successful in my opinion, and one particular incident is handled in a most ingenious way in the book, while it was more blunt in the movie. The movie was more intense in some ways, but the book is wiser in what it chooses NOT to show. I was completely delighted with this story. It is funny and heroic and romantic and bold. The culture it describes in such places as Mumbai and Delhi is fascinating. A terrific read with memorable characters.

The film doesn't really get going until they actually do get to The Hunger Games, but when it does get started up its entertaining, tense, unpredictable, and very well executed from Gary Ross. I also couldn't believe that this was his 3rd film after other flicks such as Seabiscuit and Pleasantville, which are both good but are different from this one. Still though, great jobs from everybody involved and I cannot wait for the sequel. Good review Norma.
