This is more than 50% real. He was a simple country kid. Put into war. Far from home. <br />He fibbed about his home a bit. His friend was rich, he was just trying to impress girls ( no idea he would marry one) . Nothing WRONG with his home. His mother and sister had to run it while he was gone. Depending mostly on his military pay. A new bride comes along. Big city, a country they know nothing of. It’s a stranger in your home. Eventually they not only respect each other, they like each other. Other than his old girlfriend. Or girlfriend hopeful. When he does come home, he is a broken man. It still happens today. But they see it through and the family becomes family. The movie does fall a bit flat, there is so much going on in the books, it needs a lengthy miniseries.<br /><br />The Atlas Shrugged movies fell flat too. I liked the first installment and the second, but the third was unwatchable.
