Just because they aren't as young as they used to be does not mean that they deserve to be ignored. I especially like your point that a movie doesn't have to be trend-setting to be worth watching,that providing pleasures that are small individually can have a pleasing cumulative effect, especially when the film is populated by interesting and convincingly portrayed people you wouldn't mind spending time with. And it's good to hear of a movie with characters of this age who aren't treated sentimentally, condescendingly, or worst of all, as objects of comic ridicule.R. D.
